Food connoisseurs are being offered the chance to win tickets to one of the most exclusive events in town – a unique, interactive four-week fine dining event on the roof of John Lewis Oxford Street that shows guests how to recreate professional techniques at home.

Hosted by some of Britain’s top chefs in the roof garden opened to celebrate John Lewis’s 150th anniversary, The Garden Room by AEG (Tuesday 13 May to Sunday 8 June) will seat just 20 guests per night, creating an intimate atmosphere where diners will discover the artistry of sublime cooking while enjoying a tasting menu specially designed for the occasion.

The AEG partner chefs hosting this prestigious dining experience are: double Michelin star chefs Daniel Clifford and Sat Bains, Michelin star holders Jonray and Peter Sanchez-Iglesias, Simon Hulstone and Atul Kochhar, inventive Italian chef, Francesco Mazzei, and winner of BBC1’s MasterChef 2011,Tim Anderson.

Each chef will advise, inspire and encourage guests to unleash their passion for food, sharing their expertise and love of culinary invention as they prepare their menu in an open plan kitchen powered by AEG’s kitchen appliances.

Sitting together around one table, guests will explore how the latest advances in technology can help passionate home cooks harness the tastes and textures of ingredients, and learn how to master the intricate marriage of flavour, technique and presentation that defines an unforgettable dish.

The kitchen will include the recently launched AEG ProCombi SousVide oven.  Powered by steam and complete with a vacuum drawer, it brings the precisely controlled sous-vide cooking method used by professional chefs into the home, delivering melt-in-the-mouth, flavoursome and nutritious food.

Due to popular demand, foodies are now being given the opportunity to win tickets on AEG’s Facebook page. Closing at midnight on Sunday 18 May, the competition will invite fans to explain why they would love to go, with the winners picked at random.

Graham Bremer, head of marketing at AEG UK/IRE, said: “The Garden Room by AEG will be the most incredible taste experience, offering exclusive insights from some of Britain’s most influential chefs, and delectable food created using our latest domestic appliances.

“With unrivalled access to some of the country’s finest culinary minds, guests will find out how they can bring new and exciting dimensions to the tastes and textures of their own dishes using technologies like steam and sous-vide, adapted for use at home.”

The roof garden sees the retailer open its rooftop to the public for the first time.  Designed by Royal Horticultural Society National Young Designer of the Year, Tony Woods, it is just one of a series of celebratory events which also includes an exhibition showing how a humble draper’s shop opened on Oxford Street in 1864 has grown into the £4billion award-winning business that it is today.

Craig Inglis, marketing director at John Lewis, added: “This will be an unparalleled dining experience on the top of our flagship store on Oxford Street. Our new roof garden, created as part of our 150 year anniversary celebrations, is the ideal space for these chefs to share their insights and skills against beautiful scenery.”

Chef Sat Bains commented: “I’m really looking forward to cooking at The Garden Room by AEG, and being part of the John Lewis celebrations.  The roof top location is something very special, and will set the tone as guests experience new tastes and textures while learning techniques to try at home.”

All ticket revenues will be donated to AEG’s corporate charity, Keech Hospice Care, and John Lewis’s 150th anniversary charity, Barnardo’s.
